Tilburg’s textile past is visible in the factory itself
The TextielMuseum is housed in the former complex of Christiaan Mommers. The current exhibitions look at stories and new work in textile.

The TextielMuseum and TextielLab are housed in a former textile factory that the Tilburg manufacturer Christiaan Mommers had built in the 1860s. The Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed describes the complex as characteristic of Tilburg’s textile industry in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
The buildings are themselves part of the museum’s story. The museum mentions a historic damask weaving mill at the entrance, alongside the TextielCafé and the TextielShop. According to the museum, the most recent addition to the complex dates from 2008.

Rode draden (Red Threads): old and new stories in art and design runs from 12 June 2026 to 22 May 2027. Artists and designers use textile in almost forty works to tell their own story.
