Parking in the autumn holiday: city garage or park and ride?
Arnhem, Utrecht and Nijmegen show why rate, transfer and conditions all count together.

For the northern region the holiday runs from 10 to 18 October inclusive; the central and southern regions follow from 17 to 25 October inclusive.
In Arnhem, municipal garages charge between 6:00 and 18:00 during the day €0.70 per ten minutes, with a maximum day rate of €24. Parkeergarage Centraal has its main entrance at Willemstunnel 1. Not every garage in the city falls under those municipal rates: for Broerenstraat, the municipality refers to the operator.

The Arnhem park and ride at GelreDome on the Batavierenweg offers free parking. You do pay for the public transport journey to the centre. The municipality also warns that the site is unavailable during big events at the stadium.
Utrecht names Berlijnplein, Papendorp, Science Park and Westraven, among others, as park and ride locations. One P+R ticket can be used by up to five travellers. The parking discount only applies if the last check-in is in the central area (zone 5000) and the car leaves the P+R by 01:00 at the latest.
According to the municipality, the Utrecht P+R discount cannot yet be used with OVpay via debit card, credit card or phone. Travelling alone, you are cheaper off with your own OV-chipkaart, according to the same explanation.
Nijmegen gives an overview of six garages around the centre. The municipal rate is €3.90 per hour from 8:00 to 18:00 and €0.50 per hour at night. A maximum of €16 per 24 hours applies only to the Eiermarkt, Mariënburg and Keizer Karel garages. Signs along the route show the number of free spaces.
