Muiderslot: a moated castle, a herb garden and stories of its residents
The castle in Muiden is open daily in October. The Knights and Crafts Weekend follows on 17 and 18 October.

Muiderslot is a moated castle in a strategic spot near the former mouth of the Vecht into the Zuiderzee. Based on archaeological and historical research, the museum believes Count Floris V commissioned its construction around 1285. The museum itself does not know an exact date of construction.
The castle has had various residents. The writer and poet P.C. Hooft lived there and received guests in the castle and the gardens. The Kruidhof herb garden was also a meeting place; kitchen, medicinal, dye and ornamental herbs grow there.

The autumn programme includes a tour through the castle, stories via an audio tour and walks along the ramparts. The audio tour is free.
The Knights and Crafts Weekend takes place on 17 and 18 October, with knights, old crafts and medieval music. The museum quotes a supplement of €3 for that weekend.
Muiderslot, at Herengracht 1, is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00 from April to October inclusive; the ticket desk closes at 16:30. An adult ticket costs €19.50, a ticket for children aged four to eleven inclusive €7.50. Children up to and including the age of three enter free.
