Three castles with an autumn programme for children
Loevestein, the Muiderslot and De Haar combine stories, treasure trails and castle visits. The holiday dates differ by region.

The official recommended dates for the autumn holiday differ: the northern region has its holiday from 10 to 18 October 2026 inclusive, the central and southern regions from 17 to 25 October inclusive. The castles offer activities within that broad period. Schools may deviate from the recommended dates.
From 10 to 25 October, Slot Loevestein offers an autumn programme about the life of Dirc Loef. On all days except 17 and 18 October, holiday stories take place in the Knights’ Hall at 11.00 and 13.00, followed by Ontsnapt, the story of Hugo de Groot, at 12.00 and 15.00. A knights’ tournament takes place on 17 and 18 October; the usual stories and treasure trails are cancelled on those days.

Outside 17 and 18 October, a treasure trail is also on the programme at Loevestein, alongside the exhibition Oorlogsrecht | Grenzen aan Geweld. The Museumkaart and several other passes are accepted.
On 17 and 18 October the Muiderslot organises a Ridder- en Ambachtenweekend (knights and crafts weekend). Outside that weekend, the autumn programme mentions a voyage of discovery through the castle, an audio tour that is also suitable for children and a walk along the fortress walls. A low-stimulus opening is announced for 24 October.
Kasteel de Haar has two treasure trails: Op bezoek bij de baron en barones in het kasteel (visiting the baron and baroness in the castle) and Zoek de ontsnapte dieren buiten (find the escaped animals outside). De Haar states that activities are included in the admission ticket. For Noet Noet, booking online in advance is compulsory.
For De Haar, the calendar lists opening from 10.00 to 17.00 from 10 to 25 October inclusive, and the gardens are accessible from 9.00 to 17.30. Last admission to the castle is at 16.15. Prices and the precise autumn holiday hours of the Muiderslot and Loevestein are with the castles themselves.
