In Deventer, dinner moves into a church

De Smaak van Deventer fills the Lebuinuskerk with restaurateurs, caterers and wine specialists from 5 to 8 November. The three public days are free; Thursday is a paid Business Night.

Glasses sound different in a church than in a restaurant hall. For four days, De Smaak van Deventer turns the Lebuinuskerk into a culinary meeting place, from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 November. The church confirms the same dates in its own calendar.

Opening hours vary by day. Thursday’s Business Night runs from 17:00 to 23:30, and Friday has the same hours. Saturday’s programme starts at 14:00; on Sunday it ends at 21:00.

Admission is free on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The organiser says this is made possible by sponsors and paying visitors on Thursday evening. A Business Night ticket costs €35 excluding service fees and includes, among other things, a welcome drink and a tailored programme.

The Business Night is designed as a networking event and has a smart-casual dress code. A ticket also includes a ride-home service within Deventer. The organiser lists the price as €35; whether the event sells out is unknown.

Visitors pay with food-and-drink tokens, available by debit or contactless payment, and DJs provide music. The four-day format divides the church between a free public programme and a paid opening night for networking.
