A museum object, a photographic reproduction and an archival document each offer a different route into the past. Het Noordbrabants Museum places the art, culture and history of Brabant and the Southern Netherlands alongside one another. Its collection includes paintings, drawings and prints as well as textiles, silver and archaeological finds. A visit to Verwersstraat therefore combines art history with cultural history.

The Jheronimus Bosch Art Center works with high-quality photographic reproductions of Bosch's paintings and drawings. This allows comparisons between works without their originals being gathered here. The centre occupies the former Saint James Church. It is closed on 1 November and 13 December 2026; the example day below assumes another day when it is open.

At the Groot Tuighuis, the display concerns sources from the city itself: traces in the ground, buildings and old documents. This heritage centre opens Monday to Thursday and offers a separate addition. Saint John's Cathedral and the BHIC add a church in daily use and an opportunity for archival research respectively. Together, these places offer different ways of understanding images, objects and written history in ’s-Hertogenbosch.

This example combines two visits with an hour for lunch and travel. The morning covers a selection at Het Noordbrabants Museum; the afternoon is for the Bosch Art Center. Both visits assume an opening day. The Art Center is closed on 1 November and 13 December 2026. Groot Tuighuis, Saint John's and the BHIC are separate additions.

The morning allows a selection from the art and cultural history displays. Objects and images provide different approaches to Brabant's history. The suggested window does not cover every gallery.

14:00–16:00 · Jheronimus Bosch Art Center

After lunch comes the Jheronimus Bosch Art Center. Photographic reproductions allow paintings and drawings to be viewed alongside one another. The church building gives this display a different setting from the morning's museum galleries.

Saint John's as a living church

Saint John's Cathedral is both a monument and a church with daily services. Exterior sculpture and interior furnishings belong to that use and the building's long history. Visiting the cathedral consequently differs from a museum visit: worship remains part of the place.
